On Wednesday we decided to go for hiking in the mountains nearby. We had heard that it was possible to hike from Brasov to Poiana Brasov. Poiana Brasov is a ski resort with influences from Austrian ski villages. We bought a map where all the trails were marked, and fortunately the trails also had markings in the woods. We started our hike from the mountain Tampa by taking the cable car from Brasov center to the top. The altitude was something ~900m...Here is a picture from the top of mountain Tampa. Below you can see Brasov.
We finally found the trail that leads to Poiana Brasov. The tourist information had estimated that the hike would take about 6-8 hours...
While all the animals as bears, wolves and lynxes where observing us Walter had time to take a few pictures. Here is a "Svamp". The trail had very much variations in altitude, but we were ascending slowly toward the highest point, 1799 meters.
Here is the view from the highest point in Poiana Brasov. The hike was ~10 km long and took us about 5 hours to complete. We climbed the last 300 meters uphill on the ski slope, that was quite rough. From the top you could actually see our starting point in Brasov.
