Perfect weekend in Osijek

After a rough night in the bus from Zadar to Osijek (~9 hours), Manuela was meeting us at the bus station. We went to the hostel to eat breakfast together, and after that we took a few hours sleep.

Later in the afternoon we went walking in Osijek to see the city and talked about almost everything.

Here is the church near the main square.

Later we walked along the river Drava and ended up visiting a zoo! That was realy nice to make some neew friends and too see the monkeys...

Esso!

These dudes were realy nice. So laid back animals :)

Nanna and Manuela on the pedestrian bridge.

On Sunday we had the opportunity to meet up with Manuelas friends Martina and Silvio (Married). The took us on a trip to the country side to look at summer cottage and to eat some traditional fish soup with home made pasta. The day was realy great, thanks!

Manuela, Martina, Silvio and Nanna by a statue in memory of the second world war. Behind is the river Danube. From this point we could see Hungary and Serbija, acctually the opposite shore in the picture is Serbia.

This is an entrance to a wine cellar...

... where I had an opportunity to taste home made Plum Rakija.

Our fish soup was cooked in a pot over fire. It was fish in a spicy sauce with paprika.

Adventurers enjoying their meal. Manuela got stung on her middle finger by a wasp, I hope it is better...

Most of the people dont know the fact that mines are scattered all over former Yougoslavia. In Osijek there are areas marked with this warning signs for mines. They are currently disarming mines all the time and every now and then the explosions can be heard to the city. Also people still get killed by these mines...

A geese patrol guarding their pond... *twist your head*

It looked that 3 geese's= one brain. :)

Well, tomorrow we are going to buy our tickets to Zagreb and do some other arrangments.

Br,
Walter

  1. Rakija låter farligt. Är det inte lite som grappa och annan moonshine? Jag rekommenderar också georgisk chacha (kolla wikipedia).
